Landscaping Tips
- One of the best ways to keep your grass green this month is to raise your mower height.
- Water your lawn at dawn or as close to it as you can.
- When watering your lawn, make sure to saturate the soil.

- According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, right now is a great time to plant evergreen trees and shrubs. This way, they can develop their roots prior to the dormant winter season.
Fruit and Vegetable Tips
- Harvesting: Sometimes it can be difficult to know just when to harvest your tomatoes and your peppers. For both it is best to keep them ripening on the vine, waiting for the color to deepen.
- When the stems separate from a cantaloupe it’s time to harvest.

Perennial/Annual Tips
- Better Homes and Gardens recommends the following perennials and annuals this month: verbena, Diamond Frost Euphorbia, Portulaca, zinnia, black-eyed susan, coneflower, shasta daisy, bee balm.
General Gardening Tips
- When planting trees and shrubs during the upcoming fall, make sure to install a direct-to-root watering system. This system will foster deep root growth, creating strong roots and even more above ground growth.
- If your plants are struggling with the hot weather, know that direct-to-root watering systems are not just for trees and shrubs. By pouring water down the tube of a direct-to-root watering system like an aeration tubes, you can minimize the effects of a drought.
